ClockWatch Client/Server Software Solution
Client/Server - is a type of distributed application architecture that connects a computer workstation (client) to one host computer (server). The client-server solution consists of a ClockWatch Server that maintains the correct time with an external timeserver and ClockWatch Client which talk to ClockWatch Server to maintain the correct time on the individual workstation.
ClockWatch Server
Dual-functioning application maintains time on server and also services
ClockWatch Client requests for time.
- All the features of ClockWatch Pro for setting computer's clock to NIST's atomic clock.
- Server makes periodic calls to external timeserver to keep time accurate on the computer it is running on. To make the connection it uses the native Internet connection or dials the timeserver directly over the phone line.
- Server runs as an application or an NT service on the computer.
- Server is listening on the LAN / WAN for client requests from ClockWatch client.
- Server responds to each client with correct time, logging each client request.
- Server handles from 1 to 2000 ClockWatch Clients.
ClockWatch Client
Talks via network to ClockWatch Server to set time.
- Same time setting, graphs and logging features as ClockWatch Pro.
- Designed to work with ClockWatch Server which it uses as a timeserver.
- Works on workstations behind the corporate firewall.
- Clients may run ad hoc, requesting time synchronization services from the server at any time.
- Independently, a workstation running ClockWatch Client requests time from Server over the LAN or WAN using the sockets protocol.
- Client adjusts time for local time zone and sets internal clock to correct time.
- Can be run either as an application or an Windows service on the computer.

- Maintains correct date and time even with CMOS battery failure.
